Hi there ––

First off, thank you for being here! I hope it comes through, I love what I do. And I’m very thankful to have found a career that fits my natural talents and keeps me learning.

My journey

I studied Industrial Design at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, with a semester abroad at the National University of Singapore. Dreaming up and building new products that were both beautiful and functional made the long days in the studio I look back on fondly.

Around that time, the digital world was evolving rapidly with the launch of the iPhone—and I found myself drawn to UX. For my senior thesis, I designed a financial service to help new grads better understand their money as they transitioned from students to working professionals. That project led to an internship at Razorfish in UX and Design Research, and I quickly knew this was the path I wanted to pursue. The speed and iteration cycles were intoxicating.

Embracing Emerging Technologies

When Alexa launched in 2014, I was mesmerized by the idea of ambient devices. What do experiences look like when there’s no screen? I dove in—experimenting with voice assistants and chatbots, studying what makes a voice interaction truly great.

Two former colleagues started a product design studio in Chicago focused on voice—and it was off to the races! I joined them and soon led our voice practice, designing innovative experiences for a variety of clients.

When Amazon came knocking, I couldn’t say no to the scale and impact of designing the world’s best personal assistant for millions of customers. And what a ride it’s been! LLMs and AI are evolving fast, and it’s been a thrill to help shape Alexa+ (our LLM-powered assistant) and extend Alexa AI into new verticals.

Outside of Work

I live in Austin, Texas, where sunshine and creativity go hand in hand. I love being outdoors—cycling, playing tennis, or swimming at Barton Springs. At home, you’ll usually find me in the garden, cooking something new, or rearranging a corner of the house. I also love painting (mostly landscapes these days), going to concerts, reading a good book, and chasing adventure whenever I can.
